WEST LOTHIAN RAPIST LEE MULHOLLAND JAILED FOR VIOLENT AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO WOMEN

Lee Mulholland, aged 38, from Bathgate in West Lothian, has been sentenced for a campaign of violent and sexual abuse against two women between 2019 and 2022. The Crown Office reported that Mulholland isolated one woman from her family and friends, monitored her movements, threatened to harm her dog, and forced her to hand over money. He also sprayed her with men's aftershave and deodorant and tried to control her appearance. The second woman was sexually assaulted while asleep and unable to give consent, with Mulholland raping her upon waking. Mulholland was convicted at Livingston High Court of three charges, including two rapes, and received a 12-and-a-half-year extended sentence—seven-and-a-half years imprisonment and five years on license. He was added to the sex offenders' register indefinitely and barred from contacting his victims. Scotland's procurator fiscal emphasized that Mulholland is a dangerous offender and noted his prior criminal record without previous custodial sentences. Judge William Gallacher stated that Mulholland denied all allegations during trial, showing no remorse and failing to acknowledge the extensive impact of his actions on the victims. The prosecution expressed hope that the conviction offers some comfort to the victims, highlighting their bravery in reporting Mulholland's depraved conduct.
