DUNDEE DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED FOR THREATS TO KILL EX-PARTNER
A drunk and desperate domestic abuser threatened to murder his ex-partner during months of relentless calls and messages.Lee Derby told police: “I was just trying to get back with my missus, that’s all.” The repeat offender was sent back to prison after he admitted harassment between August and October at an address in Dundee.
The city’s sheriff court was told how the woman fielded numerous calls from Derby and only answered to tell him to leave her alone.
Their relationship had ended in 2023 but determined Derby wanted to get back together, calling her more than 100 times at all hours of the day.
On October 14, drunk Derby told the woman he would murder her and was “going back to jail”.
Derby, 39, appeared for sentencing via video link from HMP Perth after a social work report had been compiled.
Solicitor John Boyle said: “Alcohol doesn’t only get him into trouble, it’s going to kill him.
“Every conviction in that (criminal) record is under the influence of alcohol.
He certainly would benefit from supervision and alcohol treatment.” Sheriff Gregor Murray jailed Derby for six months and made him subject to a five-year non-harassment order.
