COUNTY DURHAM MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THREATS TO PARTNER
A man named Lee Clark from Howllick Close, Stanley, has been convicted and sentenced for domestic violence crimes.Clark was involved in an incident outside a pub in West Auckland, where CCTV footage captured him pushing and dragging his partner in a violent manner.
Later that night, police responded to an address in West Auckland after neighbours overheard a loud argument.
When officers arrived, they found a woman covered in blood and in a hysterical state, and Clark was screaming and attacking a police officer, necessitating pepper spray.
Clark continued to threaten the woman, declaring he would "stamp on her head," "kill her," and "break her jaw." The woman sustained bruising and grazes from the assault.
Clark has an extensive criminal record with 26 previous convictions for 37 offences, including harassment of an ex-partner.
During the court hearing at Durham Crown Court, Clark pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker.
His defence argued that he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs and expressed a desire to reform.
Nonetheless, Recorder Paul Reid described the offences as "utterly disgraceful" and highlighted Clark's "appalling record for domestic violence." Clark was sentenced to 28 months in jail.
