DUNDEE COUPLE ADMIT STALKING AND HARASSMENT OF EX-GIRLFRIEND
A woman and her new girlfriend, who spent several months stalking her former partner, have appeared before the court to admit their involvement in a campaign of harassment.Lauren McDade and Rebecca Marnie caused distress to their victim by threatening and abusing her at various locations around Dundee last year.
Part of their harassment included sending false and malicious allegations about her to NHS Tayside and Dundee University.
The court heard that the stalking occurred at various shops including Home Bargains and Asda, as well as at a city primary school.
McDade, aged 27, previously had a relationship with the woman and has been banned from contacting her for two years.
She was also sentenced to carry out 270 hours of unpaid work.
Meanwhile, Marnie, also aged 27, was ordered to complete 135 hours of unpaid community service.
The pair admitted to stalking their victim between August 23 and December 4, 2022, engaging in conduct that caused her fear or alarm through approaches, shouting, swearing, and making threats.
McDade was subjected to a two-year non-harassment order, explicitly warned not to contact the woman again.
This case underscores the seriousness of stalking and harassment, with the court emphasizing the importance of protecting victims from such campaigns of intimidation and abuse.
