ABERDARE MAN JAILED FOR STRANGLING PREGNANT PARTNER AND ASSAULTING HER FATHER
A 25-year-old man from Aberdare named Kyle Jones was convicted of assaulting his pregnant partner and her father amid a series of violent episodes.Court proceedings revealed that Jones had strangled his heavily pregnant partner and applied a chokehold to her father after wrongly accusing her of being unfaithful.
The abusive acts included Jones banging his head against a door until it shattered, grabbing his partner's neck and squeezing it for a period of ten seconds, and also restraining her father with a chokehold, both victims sustaining bruises.
Following the birth of their child, Jones continued his assault on his former partner by grabbing her neck, pressing his finger into her throat, and striking her in the face.
Prosecutors described his behavior as frightening and demeaning.
Jones was arrested multiple times, initially denying any wrongdoing and claiming he was the victim, but eventually admitted to charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, assault by beating, intimidation, and malicious communications.
The court also acknowledged he had a previous conviction related to driving under the influence.
Judge Paul Hobson sentenced Jones to a total of 68 weeks in prison; half will be served in custody and the remaining time on license.
It was noted that Jones had an unstable upbringing, suffering from facial palsy, but he received family support and took on leading roles in prison activities while awaiting trial.
