ABERDARE SEX OFFENDER KYLE JOHN FREED EARLY TO RUN TAXI SERVICE NEAR CARDIFF

In a disturbing case that has raised serious concerns about the management of convicted offenders, Kyle John, a 26-year-old man from Aberdare, is currently allowed to leave prison daily to operate a taxi service, despite his violent and sexual assault past.

John was convicted of a brutal attack on a 15-year-old girl, which took place two days before Christmas. The assault involved stripping, sexual violence, and a savage beating that left the victim in a critical condition. The injuries she sustained were so severe that a doctor described them as among the worst he had seen in 28 years of practice. Her back was broken, her jaw and eye socket were shattered, and her face and body were swollen and cut. In a gruesome detail, John left his shoe imprint on her forehead, marking his callousness and the brutality of the attack.

Following the assault, John dragged the unconscious girl into nearby undergrowth near Aberdare’s town centre and abandoned her there, believing she was dead. Fortunately, she was discovered just in time to prevent her from succumbing to hypothermia. The police reports indicated that her injuries were so severe that they initially could not determine her gender, highlighting the extent of her trauma.

John, who was a carpentry student at the time, claimed he could not remember the attack due to intoxication. Nonetheless, he pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and sexual penetration. Charges of rape and attempted murder were left unresolved, and he was sentenced by Cardiff Crown Court to an indeterminate term with a minimum of five years. Judge John Curran described the assault as “brutal, sustained and violent,” emphasizing the sexual motivation behind the attack.

Despite the severity of his crimes, John is currently held at HMP Prescoed, near Pontypool, and is granted significant privileges. He is entrusted with the keys to a white Renault Master minibus, which he uses most days to transport prisoners to various work placements. These include jobs at hotels, restaurants, call centers, and even at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he regularly picks up a prisoner attending studies.

A prison insider expressed concern over the situation, stating, “He is totally unsupervised with a van-load of prisoners who have committed various offences. He drops them at their workplaces, which include hotels, restaurants, and call centers. His regular route is to Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he picks up a prisoner. There is always a risk of him absconding, but it’s a cushy number, so he’s probably better off seeing out his sentence.”

Many in the community and the victim’s family would be appalled to learn that a man with such a violent past is circulating freely in society, especially given the nature of his crimes and the privileges he currently enjoys. The authorities have been reluctant to disclose detailed information about his current location or the conditions of his release, raising questions about the oversight and management of convicted sex offenders in the region.
