LEEDS MAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OVER WARHAMMER DISPUTE

A Leeds man named Kyle Gallagher, aged 31, who was involved in violent domestic abuse, has narrowly avoided imprisonment after attacking his partner over a dispute related to his Warhammer figurines.

Gallagher's violent behavior escalated when he squeezed his partner's neck during an argument about her child playing with his collectibles, leading to her suffering immediate pain.

The court heard that Gallagher had previous convictions for 12 offences including battery, assault, and failings to comply with court orders, though none in the past four years.

During the incident, he also grabbed her by the back of her neck and squeezed for a few seconds, after which he suggested he should punch her to 'knock some sense into you.' The woman reported that her life has been severely impacted, with increased anxiety, seizures, and loss of confidence, as well as ongoing threats from Gallagher and his family.

The court sentenced Gallagher to a two-year suspended prison sentence, along with requirements for behavior modification courses, rehabilitation, and a curfew.

Gallagher indicated full compliance with these conditions.

The judge emphasized Gallagher's domestic violence history and ordered a restraining order against him.
