'OBSESSIVE AND PARANOID’ MAN HAS BEEN LOCKED UP
A man described as obsessive, paranoid, and intoxicated was sentenced to imprisonment after an incident involving domestic assault and violence against police.Kriss Wilson consumed a bottle of rum and subsequently became confrontational and violent in his partner’s home, where children were asleep upstairs.
When an attempt was made to persuade him to leave, Wilson responded by grabbing his partner by the throat and threatening her, saying, “I will show you real abuse,” while clenching his fist.
The police were summoned to the scene, and Wilson then attacked an arresting officer by knocking him to the ground before being subdued and taken into custody.
Prosecutor Cole Cockburn revealed that the couple had previously broken up due to domestic abuse allegations, but the victim later requested modifications to bail conditions to allow their rekindling.
The situation escalated when the woman asked Wilson to leave after he made comments about her former partner having access to their child.
Wilson, aged 40 and residing on Peel Street in Darlington, admitted to deliberately strangling his partner and assaulting an emergency services officer earlier in the morning of August 23 this year.
Judge Richard Bennett sentenced Wilson to 20 months in prison, noting that the victim described his conduct as ‘controlling, obsessive, and paranoid.’ Additionally, Wilson was issued a ten-year restraining order.
