STOCKTON MAN AND WOMAN IN COURT OVER CHILD CRUELTY CHARGES
Kofi Offeh, aged 35, has been charged with child cruelty along with Jean Gasho.The pair appeared before Teesside Magistrates Court on July 15 and both faced the charge of child cruelty.
They are residents of Yarm Lane, Stockton, and were arrested following a police investigation described as 'complex' and involving community members, the council, and local NHS.
During the brief hearing, Offeh and Gasho entered no pleas and the case has been forwarded to Teesside Crown Court.
They have been remanded in custody until their next hearing scheduled for August 12.
Police have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat or risk to safety, and they have concluded their investigation at the property on Yarm Lane.
Additional details include that a 20-year-old woman was also arrested in connection but was bailed pending further enquiries.
A cordon was previously established outside the address, with crime scene investigation teams working inside.
