HULL MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON PREGNANT PARTNER
A terrified pregnant woman feared for her life and thought that her drunken boyfriend was going to kill her after he angrily assaulted her and left her unconscious three times during an "utterly vile" prolonged beating.Violent and aggressive Kieron Franciosy had consumed up to 12 cans of cider before slapping, strangling, biting her, and banging her head against a wall, the court heard.
Franciosy, 23, of Cottingham, admitted offences of intentional strangulation, assault causing actual bodily harm, and causing criminal damage on September 23.
Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that the woman had been in a relationship with Franciosy for around nine months.
She was at her Hull home caring for her son when he arrived.
Franciosy had drunk 10 to 12 cans of cider.
She asked him to leave to prevent an argument, but he refused.
"She was right to be concerned," said Miss Kioko-Gilligan.
"She was subjected to a sustained assault over approximately 30 minutes." Franciosy was annoyed that her son was playing with a vacuum cleaner when he wanted to use his phone, and he used a pipe from it to hit her on the thighs.
She then went upstairs, and Franciosy punched the door, damaging it, before grabbing her phone and snapping it in two, then throwing the damaged phone at the door.
He then slapped her face causing pain, held her by the back of her neck dragging her and banging her head on a wall, which caused her to fall.
She believed she was knocked unconscious for about 30 seconds and suffered swelling at the back of her head.
When she asked him to leave, he punched her stomach, then used his weight to choke her, causing her to fear for her life and believe she was going to die.
She was again rendered unconscious, and he later held her and questioned if she wanted to stay in the relationship, to which she responded she wanted to end it.
Franciosy then bit her face.
She managed to run from the property taking her son with her.
This victim was vulnerable and pregnant at the time.
The police were alerted, and Franciosy was arrested.
He had previous convictions for criminal damage and a conditional caution for assaulting police.
Mitigating, Dale Brook said Franciosy had been drinking heavily to self-medicate, with alcohol often being an ongoing issue.
"It was in that high emotional state and fuelled by alcohol that he committed these appalling offences.
He has taken full responsibility and shown genuine remorse." He is sorry and does not want to appear in court again.
He is described as a hardworking young man who is almost always employed.
Judge Gurdial Singh condemned the attack, stating: "You fall to be sentenced for an utterly vile assault upon your pregnant partner.
She asked you to leave, knowing you were drunk.
She was in fear for her life and was unconscious for a third time." Franciosy, who was in custody on remand, was jailed for two and a half years.
