RADIO DJ JAILED FOR SENDING SEX MESSAGES TO DOZENS OF UNDERAGE GIRLS
Kieran Smith, aged 30, confessed to committing 16 sexual offenses at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, which involved engaging in inappropriate communication with minors and owning unlawful explicit images.
Previously, Smith served as a director of Mearns Community Radio until 2020.
He contacted more than twelve social media accounts he believed belonged to underage girls, posing as a teenager himself, and later attempted to send them explicit pictures.
Law enforcement officers searched his home in Inverbervie after a mother discovered he had been messaging her 15-year-old daughter on Snapchat.
During the search, police recovered numerous indecent images from his devices and found evidence of conversations with other young females.
Smith admitted to the 16 counts, which included illicit communications with minors and possession of illegal images.
He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade.
