KHURRAM JAVED FROM ROTHERHAM JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL
In a significant legal case that unfolded at Sheffield Crown Court, Khurram Javed, a 35-year-old man from Rotherham, was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. The incident in question occurred in 2014, during a period when Javed was employed as a takeaway driver, a job that placed him in close contact with the public and, unfortunately, led to this serious criminal act.
Javed, who resides on Clifton Crescent in Rotherham, faced a seven-day trial that culminated in a jury deliberation lasting approximately an hour and a half.
The court proceedings revealed that Javed was found guilty solely of the sexual assault against the teenage girl, but he was acquitted of three other charges.
These included a count of rape against the same girl and two additional sexual assault charges involving another girl aged 13.
The jury's decision underscores the complexity of the case, with the court ultimately determining that the evidence did not support the allegations of rape or the other sexual assaults.
Despite the acquittals, the conviction for the sexual assault on the 16-year-old girl highlights the serious nature of the crime and the consequences faced by Javed.
This case has drawn attention to issues surrounding sexual misconduct and the importance of justice for victims.
The sentencing reflects the court's recognition of the gravity of the assault committed by Javed, and it serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat such offenses within communities like Rotherham.
