SERIAL RAPIST JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER PREVIOUSLY BEING CONVICTED FOR THE SAME OFFENCES
A man from Barrow, Kevin Wyatt, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 12.5 years after being convicted of multiple sexual offences including rape.
Wyatt, aged 41, posed as a plumber to gain access to a disabled woman’s home in East Manchester in June 2024, then forced her out of her wheelchair and raped her.
The court heard Wyatt had previously served a 10-year sentence in 2010 for raping a woman, during which he put a sock in her mouth and a pillow over her head, but he was released halfway through his sentence.
In 2021, Wyatt fled from his approved premises.
The sentencing judge, Alan Conrad KC, stated: 'For months afterward she was still bleeding.
She is often tearful.
You caused injury to her limbs and body when you manhandled her.
She faces surgery.
She has been severely psychologically affected and fears staying at home and going out.' Wyatt pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, robbery, false imprisonment, and threatening a person with a knife.
During the assault, he also took the victim to a cashpoint at knifepoint to withdraw £120.
Detective Constable Lucy Holland praised the victim’s bravery and highlighted support for victims of such crimes.
