Kevin Shewan is facing imprisonment as he awaits sentencing.
He has been warned about the possibility of being incarcerated for causing significant harm and pain to a kitten named Shadow through grievous injuries, including a fractured tooth, damage to an eye, and multiple broken bones.
These injuries contributed to the decision to euthanise the cat.
The court was informed that Shadow sustained debilitating injuries at Shewan’s residence on Broughty Ferry Road between August and December 2024.
The injuries included a broken pelvis, pelvic fractures, and other severe trauma, which appeared to be non-accidental, with evidence suggesting the harm was not accidental.
Shewan admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to Shadow by repeatedly injuring the animal.
Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith indicated that he is considering a jail sentence for Shewan and warned he will likely be banned from owning animals in the future.
