KEVIN LANGFORD OF WOOTTON FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES IN LUTON COURT

In a significant legal development, Kevin Langford, a 54-year-old man with no fixed address, has been convicted of a series of heinous child sexual offences that spanned over a period of six years while he resided in Wootton, a village located just outside Bedford. The verdict was delivered at Luton Crown Court on the 31st of May, where the jury found him guilty of a total of 29 separate charges related to child sexual abuse.

Prior to this trial, Langford had already admitted guilt to three counts of sexual activity with a minor during an earlier court appearance, which paved the way for the ongoing proceedings. The court is now set to sentence him in July, although the exact date for sentencing has not yet been determined.

During the trial, harrowing details of Langford’s criminal conduct over the six-year period were disclosed to the jury. It was revealed that he repeatedly subjected his female victim to sexual assault and coercion, forcing her to participate in sexual acts against her will. The court heard how Langford coerced her into posing for provocative photographs, which he subsequently uploaded to an adult website, falsely claiming that she was over the age of 18.

The victim’s suffering did not end with these acts. Prosecutors detailed how Langford arranged for other men to engage in sexual activities with her, meeting them at various hotels to facilitate these abuses. In a particularly disturbing revelation, it was disclosed that he even took her abroad to meet an individual who intended to have sex with her, further illustrating the extent of his exploitation.

The investigation into Langford’s crimes was initiated in April 2017, after the victim courageously came forward to authorities and disclosed the abuse she had endured. Following her disclosure, police launched a comprehensive investigation that led to his arrest and subsequent charging.

Langford faced a total of 30 child sexual offence charges, which included allegations of assault and rape of a child under the age of 13. Additional charges encompassed possession and distribution of indecent images of children, inciting a child into prostitution and pornography, and trafficking a person out of the United Kingdom for sexual exploitation purposes.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced in July, with the court date to be confirmed. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and bring perpetrators to justice.
