CARLISLE MAN SENTENCED FOR TAKING INDECENT PHOTOS OF CHILDREN
A 66-year-old Carlisle man named Kevin Jackson has been given a suspended jail sentence after being prosecuted for taking indecent photos of children at the Blackpool Air Show.
Jackson, who has no previous convictions, was caught when a female bystander noticed he was attempting to inappropriately photograph a child using his phone.
The woman intervened by blocking his view, and police subsequently investigated.
During the investigation, authorities found that he had been taking photos of children in public places specifically for his sexual gratification.
It was also discovered that Jackson had used the internet to search for terms indicating a sexual interest in young girls.
He admitted to making eight Category C indecent child images, including one of a naked three-year-old, despite previously claiming to probation staff that he had no sexual interest in children.
The offense was linked to the 2022 Blackpool Air Show.
The court was told that Jackson's actions caused significant violation to the children and their parents, and the judge, Robert Altham, emphasized that the breach of public trust was gross.
The judge commended the woman who intervened.
Jackson received an 18-month jail sentence, suspended for 20 months, along with a 20-week curfew, 20 days of rehabilitation, and his name will be on the Sex Offender Register for ten years.
He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order, with Category C images being the least serious class of indecent images.
