The disturbing revelations did not end there. At Dee Dee's Cafe on Sotherby Road in Middlesbrough, Greenwood was caught on camera filming teenage girls from behind, focusing on their bottoms. This act of voyeurism prompted concerned customers to alert the police. When officers arrived at the scene, Greenwood attempted to delete evidence from his phone, but he later confessed to other sickening crimes during an interview at the police station. Among his admissions was the disturbing detail of filming a young girl while she was getting dressed, and using Russian websites to watch very young girls being sexually abused while sleeping in his lorry cab after shifts.

Following his arrest, Greenwood was charged and released on bail, with a court date scheduled for a later time. However, his fears of retribution grew after he confided in a neighbor about his upcoming court case. As a result, Greenwood faced hostility in the streets, with passersby shouting abuse and threatening violence. Overwhelmed by fear, he decided to sell his house, which he did at a significant loss—selling it for just £30,000, £20,000 below its market value. He then disposed of all his belongings and checked into a Travel Lodge with only a few clothes, avoiding legal counsel for his court proceedings.

During his second court appearance—his first having been adjourned—Greenwood openly expressed his desire to be imprisoned, claiming he deserved it for his actions. The judge informed him that he needed to secure legal representation to proceed, as the court required a mitigation statement. Meanwhile, Greenwood was observed wandering outside Teesside Crown Court, where he declared, “I just want to go to prison. I know I’ve messed up, I know what I’ve done is disgusting, that’s why everyone hates me.” He admitted to quitting his job and expressed remorse, stating that his family wanted nothing to do with him and that he deserved their rejection. Greenwood also recounted disposing of his furniture at the tip, where onlookers swarmed to take his belongings.

As his financial situation worsened, Greenwood moved from the Travel Lodge into a camper van and fled to Pickering. He spent time in the Moors and volunteered to be electronically tagged, allowing police to monitor his whereabouts constantly. His next court date was scheduled for June 22, where he appeared with a barrister and reiterated his desire to be jailed, claiming he felt he deserved punishment. Prosecutor Jolyon Perks confirmed that Greenwood was guilty of “upskirting” during his café filming, although Greenwood insisted he took the photos from his table and denied ever “upskirting.”

During the hearing, one of the young girls who had been filmed expressed her trauma and distress caused by Greenwood’s actions. Both victims and their families hoped that Greenwood would face a custodial sentence for his crimes. Despite his own plea to be imprisoned, the court handed him a suspended sentence, meaning he would only serve time if he committed further offenses.
