KEVIN FOX FROM WIRRAL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN LIVERPOOL

In a case that has shocked the local community, Kevin Fox, a pensioner from Wirral, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl. The disturbing case was heard at Liverpool Crown Court, where it was revealed that Fox, now aged 73, committed these heinous acts in Liverpool during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

According to the prosecution, led by Sarah Holt, the victim, who was only 13 and 14 years old at the time, endured a prolonged period of abuse at the hands of Fox. Holt explained that the initial incident occurred in the 1980s, and over time, the abuse became a regular occurrence. The young girl, who showed remarkable bravery, confided in her mother when she was 14, revealing some of what had happened. However, when she confronted Fox about the allegations, he dismissed her concerns, claiming he might have been drunk at the time, and no further action was taken.

The sexual assaults persisted for approximately two and a half years, causing significant trauma to the victim. As an adult, she eventually disclosed the abuse to a partner but hesitated to contact authorities until the summer of 2014. Her decision to report Fox was prompted by a conversation in which he called her “sick” and a “liar” after she brought up the abuse.

During police interviews, Fox continued to deny the allegations, maintaining his innocence throughout. Despite his denials, the jury found him guilty of all six charges of indecent assault, some of which were classified as specimen offences. The court heard that Fox had groomed his victim, a factor that contributed to the severity of his sentence.

Judge Andrew Hatton, presiding over the case, emphasized the seriousness of Fox’s actions and the impact on the victim. He ordered Fox to be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, underscoring the court’s stance on such grave offences. Fox’s conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of justice for victims of sexual abuse, especially when the perpetrator is someone who exploited their position of trust.
