KEVIN BROCK AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN CAMBRIDGE
A deeply disturbing case involving Kevin Brock, a known predator operating in Cambridge, has culminated in a significant prison sentence after a series of heinous crimes against young girls. Brock, aged 28 and residing on Cam Causeway, engaged in a pattern of manipulative and predatory behavior that exploited vulnerable minors through social media platforms, primarily Tik Tok.Brock's criminal activities came to light after investigations revealed that he had lured numerous underage girls into sending him explicit images and videos. His tactics involved promising these young victims increased social media followers, a lure that exploited their desire for online popularity. He was found to have extensively searched through hundreds of profiles of underage girls on Tik Tok, watching their live streams and sending unsolicited direct messages in an attempt to establish contact.
The most serious allegations against Brock involve the sexual abuse of two girls under the age of 13 in Cambridgeshire during 2021. The court heard that he raped the younger girl on three separate occasions, a series of assaults that constitute some of the most severe charges he faced. Additionally, another girl, slightly older, was groomed over a period of years, during which she was sexually assaulted three times. Some of these assaults were recorded, further evidencing the extent of his depravity.
The criminal case was initiated after a family member discovered messages on one of the victim’s devices in December 2021, prompting them to contact the police. When Brock was arrested, he initially denied any sexual contact with the girls during police interviews. He claimed that the messages he sent to the older girl were not intended to be sexual. However, a subsequent search of his home led to the seizure of two mobile phones, which analysis revealed contained a staggering 1,401 indecent images and videos of children. These included footage of the rape and sexual abuse of the two young girls.
The images were categorized into different severity levels, with 809 classified as Category C, 350 as Category B, and 242 as Category A—the most severe. Brock chose to remain silent during a further police interview after the discovery of this material, answering no comment.
Further investigations by another police force in July of the previous year uncovered that Brock had targeted yet another underage girl on Tik Tok, this time from Nottinghamshire. He had asked her for sexual images in exchange for followers on the platform. Brock urged her to add him on Snapchat and then proceeded to request sexual photos, which escalated to videos of her engaging in sexual activity. He even threatened to block her from Snapchat if she did not comply.
Following his arrest, Brock claimed that his social media accounts must have been hacked and insisted he had not engaged in conversations with underage girls. Nonetheless, police found additional videos on his phone that proved otherwise, revealing conversations with at least a dozen other underage girls whom he encouraged to participate in sexual activities and to send him explicit images and videos.
Brock faced multiple charges, initially denying all allegations but later admitting to 27 counts, including three counts of raping a girl under 13, engaging in sexual communication with a child, two counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13, sexually assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration, 13 counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of possessing indecent images of children, and four counts of making indecent images of children.
On August 7, at Peterborough Crown Court, Brock was sentenced to a total of 32 years in prison. Judge Rupert Lowe described him as a persistent, predatory, and highly manipulative paedophile with a deep-rooted sexual interest in young girls. The judge emphasized that Brock’s offenses represented the most appalling form of sexual abuse, noting that he recorded and kept footage of his crimes, likely with the intent to view it later for sexual gratification.
Detective Constable Charlie Mitton from Cambridgeshire Police’s Child Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “Our thoughts are with the two young girls Brock targeted in the most horrific of ways, and his other victims who were targeted online. We are pleased he has now been brought to justice and hope the sentence imposed provides some closure for his victims and their families.”
She further explained that Brock’s manipulative tactics involved trawling through hundreds of underage girls’ profiles on Tik Tok, watching their live streams, and promising them increased followers—an offer that often led to their accounts gaining popularity. However, in exchange for these supposed boosts, Brock would ask for sexual images or videos, exploiting the vulnerability of children who often seek online validation.
The officer highlighted the dangers posed by social media and urged parents to have open conversations with their children about online safety. She also encouraged anyone who might have been targeted by Brock to come forward. The police remain committed to protecting young people from exploitation and have specially trained officers ready to support victims and ensure offenders are held accountable.
