KEVIN BRAID FROM EAST WEMYSS CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENCES IN KIRKCALDY
Kevin Braid, a 38-year-old resident of East Wemyss, has been officially found guilty of serious sexual offences by the Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.The charges stem from incidents that occurred on July 7, 2023, at an address in Glenrothes, where Braid engaged in inappropriate and illegal communications with a 14-year-old girl.
According to court records, Braid was involved in sending a series of messages of a sexual nature to the underage girl.
These messages included explicit language and requests for intimate photographs, which are considered severe violations under Scottish law.
The court also heard that Braid attempted to solicit further explicit images from the girl, aiming to satisfy his own sexual gratification through these illicit communications.
It was revealed during the proceedings that the girl was under the care of the Police Service of Scotland at the time of the incidents, highlighting the vulnerability of the victim and the seriousness of the offences.
Braid was charged under Section 34(1) of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, which covers various forms of sexual communication and solicitation involving minors.
Following a detailed examination of the evidence and testimonies, the sheriff found Braid guilty on all counts.
The court's decision marks a significant step in addressing the criminal conduct, and Braid now faces the prospect of a custodial sentence.
