KENNETH MITCHELL CAUGHT IN THORNLEEBANK SCANDAL: SCHOOLGIRL'S BRAVE ACT EXPOSES PERVERTED PLOT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Thornliebank, a 15-year-old schoolgirl demonstrated remarkable composure and quick thinking when she uncovered a sinister attempt by her mother’s partner to spy on her during a bath. The incident, which took place in early 2014, has brought to light the disturbing actions of Kenneth Mitchell, a man accused of secretly recording the girl using a hidden device.

According to court proceedings, the young girl was in her home in Thornliebank when she became suspicious of unusual sounds and the presence of an unfamiliar device in the bathroom. While preparing to take her bath, she heard what she believed to be the sound of an iPhone recording. Her instincts prompted her to check the bathroom, where she discovered an iPhone concealed within a toiletries bag inside a bathroom cabinet. The device was protruding from a red toiletry bag, which immediately raised her suspicions.

Rather than panic, the girl acted with calm resolve. She accessed the device, played back the recording, and quickly transferred the video onto her own phone. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, she then deleted the recording from Mitchell’s phone to prevent him from realizing she had discovered his secret. Her quick actions were aimed at gathering evidence while avoiding alerting the perpetrator.

Later, the girl confided in her sibling about her discovery, and subsequently, she showed her mother the incriminating footage. Her mother, alarmed and distressed, contacted the police. The authorities launched an investigation, which confirmed that Kenneth Mitchell had used his phone to record the girl while she was undressing in the bathroom. The footage captured her in a vulnerable state, with her breasts and buttocks exposed as she was taking a bath.

Prosecutor Alison Montgomery explained that Mitchell, who was living in Stirlingshire at the time, had taken on a parental role in the household and had established rules that anyone needing to use the bathroom should check if others needed to go first. Despite these rules, Mitchell’s actions crossed a serious line. The court heard that he admitted to the police that he knew what he had done was wrong, stating, “I know what I did was wrong. I can’t even explain it. I don’t know what went through my head to do such a thing.” However, he refused to comment further when questioned by police.

At Falkirk Sheriff Court, 51-year-old Kenneth Mitchell of Orchard Court, Thornliebank, pleaded guilty to charges of concealing a mobile phone capable of recording videos in the bathroom and of recording the girl undressing until she was naked. The court was told that his actions were intended to produce images of the girl engaged in private acts, which he or others could later view. The incident was dated January 16, 2014.

Sheriff John Mundy deferred sentencing until November 27 to allow for background reports and ordered Mitchell to be placed on the sex offenders’ register. The case has left the community of Thornliebank deeply unsettled, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable individuals from such invasive and criminal acts.
