FORFAR MAN JAILED FOR NINE YEARS FOR SEX ATTACKS IN DUNDEE
Kenneth Jolly, a mechanic from Forfar in Angus, received a nine-year prison sentence following convictions for multiple serious sexual offenses involving women in Dundee. He was found guilty of raping one prostitute and sexually assaulting three other women within an eight-month span.
Although Jolly admitted to frequenting streets to seek prostitutes, he denied being responsible for the assaults.
During the High Court hearing in Livingston, it was noted that many of his victims were vulnerable women, predominantly heroin addicts, who often hesitated to report the crimes due to their lifestyles.
The Lord Boyd, presiding judge, commended the victims for coming forward and announced that Jolly would be under supervision for an additional three years after serving his prison term.
His name has now been recorded on the sex offenders’ register.
The case revealed that Jolly preyed on susceptible young women, taking them to a caravan on the outskirts of Dundee, where he subjected them to degrading sexual acts.
His defense team argued that Jolly had lost everything—his home, job, and family—due to his actions and expressed remorse for the damage he caused.
Nevertheless, Lord Boyd highlighted the seriousness of the offenses, pointing out the deliberate planning involved, and emphasized that Jolly maintained his innocence despite the conviction.
The judge criticized Jolly for viewing his actions as mere transactions for sex, failing to understand that the women did not consent to the abuse.
The court also acknowledged the victims’ vulnerability and their initial reluctance to report the crimes, reinforcing their right to full protection under the law.
