ALLOA MAN TO BE SENTENCED AFTER ADMITTING TO POSSESSION OF OVER 31,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
An Alloa man named Kenneth Hynd is set to be sentenced next month after admitting to possession of over 31,000 indecent images of children.Hynd, aged 33, pleaded guilty during a brief hearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 16 June.
He was charged with having a collection of indecent photographs, or pseudo-photographs, of minors at his residence on Orkney Court, Alloa, during the period from 18 April 2014 to 16 July 2014.
As part of the plea deal negotiated by Hynd's legal team, the Crown prosecutor agreed to drop a charge of creating, taking, or allowing the creation of indecent images of children, along with a charge of possessing extreme pornographic images depicting explicit and realistic sexual assault and torture of females, as well as sexual activities involving animals and adults.
Depute fiscal Beverly Adam reported that police intelligence led to a search of Hynd's residence, where computer equipment was seized and found to contain the indecent images.
The investigation revealed that the images amounted to 31,577 still images classified as Category C, which is the lowest severity level.
Officials also recovered 35 videos, 32 of which were Category C and three were Category B.
The images had to be retrieved using specialized software after being previously deleted.
The court heard that Hynd was ordered to undergo social work assessments and was placed on the sex offender’s register, subject to Sex Offences Act notification requirements.
Hynd is scheduled to return to Alloa Sheriff Court on 23 July for sentencing.
