STIRLING UNIVERSITY STUDENT AND POLITICAL ACTIVIST IS AI SEX OFFENDER
Amelia Connolly, aged 23 and originally from England, refers to herself as “Lady Amelia of Scotland”.She was scheduled to face sentencing at Falkirk Sheriff Court after admitting in April to downloading images depicting child abuse, specifically involving sexual AI-generated images that portrayed a young girl’s face on an adult body.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Connolly was detained at Low Moss Prison in Bishopbriggs, awaiting a separate case scheduled for May.
She had been remanded there earlier in the week and appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court the previous Thursday, where she entered a not guilty plea to a charge of failing to provide her mobile phones for police inspection, thus breaching her bail conditions.
In a further development, her solicitor Natasha Martin told Falkirk court that Connolly now denies the primary charge that resulted in her bail and is seeking to withdraw her earlier guilty plea.
Ms.
Martin explained: “Miss Connolly claims she received these images from online trolls.” During the hearing at Falkirk, Connolly, who uses a wheelchair and has been diagnosed with incurable cancer, only confirmed her name via a video link.
Sheriff Christopher Shead indicated that background reports considered her unsuitable for unpaid work as a court sentence.
As an alternative to detention, the court deferred sentencing until May 29 to allow for further investigations.
The motion to withdraw her guilty plea concerning AI-generated child abuse images was also deferred to the same date.
Additionally, a summary trial related to her bail status is scheduled for May 12.
Connolly was initially arrested following a police raid on her Alloa home on December 5, 2024, at around 8:50 am.
She handed over her mobile device, which was examined, revealing four indecent images.
Prosecutor Ronnie Hay stated that “all images appeared to be AI-generated, with a female child's face on an adult body engaged in sexualized poses,” including acts of solo sexual activity.
All images were created on October 30, 2024.
Three of these images were classified as “Category B,” indicating moderate severity, while one was rated Category C.
Connolly was taken into custody two weeks later and responded to questions with “I don't know.” —————————————————————————————————— Amelia Connolly, a Stirling University student and political activist, pled guilty to creating indecent images of children using AI.
The images depicted a child’s face superimposed onto an adult’s body, with sexualized posing and masturbation.
The images were found on a mobile phone seized in December last year, with a creation date of October 30, 2024.
Connolly admitted to taking or making the images and was granted a deferred sentence for reports.
Previously active in the Scottish Young Greens and involved with Stirling Pride, Connolly's convictions shocked the community and led to her removal from Pride.
The university stated its policy is not to comment on individual cases, but noted that students facing criminal proceedings are subject to disciplinary action.
