DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR TERRIFYING SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man aged 60 has been imprisoned after subjecting a woman to a harrowing sexual assault while helping her with a move in Dundee.Kenneth Grubb, from Prieston Road, attacked the 23-year-old mother of two in December 2018 after lending her boxes through his role as a delivery driver.
When he arrived at her new home to retrieve the boxes, the woman passed by him, and he then put his hands under her clothing to squeeze her breasts.
Despite her protests, he continued by putting his hands down her jeans and making repeated touches.
She told him “no, it’s wrong” and described his actions as “sudden and unprovoked.” Following the incident, she called her friend and then her ex-partner, who came quickly and found her crying and curled up on a bed.
The police were informed, and Grubb was arrested at his job at UPS.
Tests on swabs from his fingers revealed DNA matching that of the woman.
In police interviews, Grubb claimed he had misinterpreted the situation and initially believed she had given consent, but on the day scheduled for his trial, he admitted to the sexual assault that took place on December 19, 2018.
Before the court sentenced him at Dundee Sheriff Court, his solicitor stated that while Grubb had tried to minimize his behaviour, he accepted that his actions were driven by his own sexual desires.
The lawyer also suggested that an alternative to imprisonment, such as a community-based punishment, could be considered.
He added that, although Grubb was at a moderate risk of re-offending, addressing his conduct could reduce that risk.
Sheriff Alistair Carmichael condemned the offence as “abhorrent” and emphasized that a custodial sentence was appropriate.
He remarked, “This was a serious, ongoing, and forcible sexual assault, with clear resistance from the victim.
Given the gravity of the offence, a sentence reflecting societal condemnation is necessary.
There is no other option but custody.” Grubb received a 13-month prison sentence, shortened from 15 months because he pled guilty.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
