KELVIN WILKINSON GROOMS 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN NARBOROUGH AND LEICESTER CROWN COURT SENTENCE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Narborough and the wider Leicester area, Kelvin Wilkinson, aged 36, has been sentenced to four years in prison after grooming an 11-year-old girl through online communications. Wilkinson, who previously worked as a children's disco DJ, faced justice following revelations of his disturbing behavior that spanned over several years.

Wilkinson's criminal history includes a prior conviction in 2009, when he was jailed for three years for possessing child abuse images and inciting a young person to engage in sexual acts. His release from prison did not mark the end of his troubling activities. Just two years after his release, Wilkinson initiated contact with a young girl he had seen videos of online, raising serious concerns about his ongoing predatory behavior.

The court heard that the girl had uploaded videos of herself dancing on YouTube, which Wilkinson had viewed and commented on, offering her encouragement. This seemingly innocent interaction soon escalated as the two began communicating via email. Prosecutor James Varley explained that Wilkinson’s messages quickly turned inappropriate, with him asking the girl personal questions about what she wore under her onesie and other sexually suggestive inquiries.

According to the prosecution, Wilkinson had been actively searching the internet for videos of girls performing dance moves, including splits, and had engaged in what was described as sophisticated and well-practiced grooming behavior. As the conversations progressed, Wilkinson’s questions became more explicit, prompting the girl to tell him she was only 11 and unaware of the meaning of certain sexual terms. She eventually confided in her mother about Wilkinson’s inappropriate messages.

Following the girl’s disclosure, Wilkinson was arrested. Authorities found child pornography videos and images on his computer, confirming his involvement in the exploitation. Wilkinson later pleaded guilty to three charges of making child abuse images and one charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

During the court proceedings, Philip Gibbs, representing Wilkinson, described his client as someone battling deep-seated self-loathing and urges. Gibbs stated, “This is someone full of self-loathing who has battled against the urges your honour has heard about. When confronted by the police he makes admissions.”

Judge Robert Brown addressed the court, highlighting the seriousness and worrying nature of the case. He emphasized that Wilkinson posed a significant risk to young girls and noted that Wilkinson’s criminal behavior was not a result of mental illness or past abuse. The judge remarked, “You pose a high risk of causing serious harm to female children. It’s clear you’re not someone who’s got a mental illness and you’ve not been sexually abused yourself as a child. What’s worrying is you were before the court for behaviour that’s directly similar in 2009. You’re back having done the same thing again.”

As part of his sentence, Wilkinson will serve an extended period on licence after his release, remaining under supervision until 2022. He will also be registered as a sex offender for life, barred from contacting anyone under 16, and required to maintain his internet browsing history. The case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Wilkinson and the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in protecting vulnerable children from online predators.
