KELVIN HASTE CAUGHT WITH OVER 430 CHILD PORN IMAGES IN CANNINGTON

In December 2008, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving Kelvin Haste, a 48-year-old resident of South Brook, Cannington. During a routine search of his computer by child protection officers, they discovered an alarming collection of more than 430 indecent images depicting children. The images were categorized into various severity levels, with 49 classified as class four, described as 'very serious'; 12 as category three; 133 as category two; and 206 as category one. In addition to the images, investigators found three movies also classified as category four, highlighting the disturbing nature of the content.

Kelvin Haste, who was reportedly living with adult family members at the time, admitted to creating indecent images of children. His full and frank admissions came during the court proceedings, revealing his involvement in the production of such material. Despite his admissions, Haste initially protested his innocence, claiming that others were responsible for downloading the images onto his computer. This denial was addressed by Judge Jamie Tabor QC, who reminded him of his earlier stance in court.

The judge acknowledged Haste's background as an academic with a previously good character, noting that he was suffering from a bad back and had excessive free time, which may have contributed to his actions. Nonetheless, the court sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes supervision and mandatory attendance at a sex offenders' rehabilitation program. Judge Tabor emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating, "An intelligent man such as yourself doesn’t need me to tell you the evil that’s behind this."

Furthermore, Haste was placed on the sex offenders' register for a period of five years. He was also subject to a sex offences prevention order that restricted his contact with individuals under the age of 16, aiming to prevent any future harm or offending behavior.
