KEITH ROBERTS FROM BARROW ADMITS TO CHILD PORN AND BESTIALITY VIDEOS AT PRESTON CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case heard at Preston Crown Court, Keith Roberts, a 68-year-old resident of Barrow, has confessed to possessing, creating, and distributing explicit images and videos involving children and animals. The court proceedings revealed a series of serious charges against Roberts, who appeared in court with evident hesitation as details of his offenses were laid out.
Roberts, who resides on Cloisters Avenue in Barrow, entered his pleas during the hearing, confirming his identity and admitting to the allegations without further comment.
The charges include a total of twelve counts related to the possession, production, and dissemination of indecent images and videos.
These charges stem from material recovered from his computer equipment, which included a disturbing collection of photographs and moving images.
Specifically, Roberts pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing indecent moving images of children, with these offenses dating back to November 2011.
Additionally, he admitted to six counts of creating indecent images—both still photographs and videos—of minors, categorized within the less severe classifications of such material.
The court also heard that Roberts possessed extreme videos depicting bestiality, including one involving a person engaging in sexual acts with a dog, another with a horse, and a third combining both animals.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the court acknowledged that Roberts has a history of good character and has not previously appeared before the courts.
Nevertheless, his actions have now resulted in a conviction as a sex offender, and he is subject to strict notification requirements under the law.
As part of the legal process, Roberts has been prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
Roberts is scheduled to return to Preston Crown Court on July 23 for sentencing, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of such harmful and illegal material, and it underscores the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable populations from exploitation and abuse.
