HOUNSLOW SEX OFFENDER KAYMORE CHAM SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE AND STRANGULATION IN SUNBURY-ON-THAMES

A man with a disturbing criminal history, Kaymore Cham, known locally in Hounslow, has been handed down a significant prison sentence after being convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses, including rape and strangulation. The court proceedings revealed a brutal assault that took place in Sunbury-on-Thames during the early hours of Saturday, November 11, 2023, leaving a trail of trauma and fear in its wake.

Kaymore Cham, aged 44 and born on August 6, 1980, was present in court to face the charges brought against him. Despite entering a plea of not guilty, the evidence presented during the trial was compelling enough to secure a conviction on all counts. The incident involved Cham sexually assaulting a woman at her residence, an act that was followed by a violent confrontation in the street. During this assault, he subjected the victim to non-fatal strangulation, a particularly dangerous form of violence that underscores the severity of his actions.

Witnesses who observed the aftermath of the assault testified to the physical injuries sustained, but the rape itself was carried out in private, making it more difficult to gather direct evidence. Cham attempted to distort the truth by claiming that he and the victim had consensual sexual relations that night. However, forensic evidence, along with his involvement in a separate Metropolitan Police investigation involving another woman who had also been sexually assaulted, proved his guilt beyond doubt.

On Friday, March 7, the court sentenced Cham to a total of 14.5 years in prison. The sentence was divided into 8.5 years for the offenses committed in Surrey and an additional 6 years for the Metropolitan Police's case. Furthermore, he was given an extended license period of 4.5 years, ensuring close supervision upon his release. The judge described the victim's impact statement as ‘powerful,’ and it was read aloud in court by the woman from Surrey who endured the assault.

In her heartfelt statement, she recounted the emotional toll of the ordeal. She expressed her feelings of fear and vulnerability, especially as it was her first experience in a courtroom as a victim. She credited the support of officers Rachel and Sage for helping her find the strength to testify. Despite feeling confused, angry, and hurt upon hearing the verdict, she also expressed a sense of pride for the justice served, hoping it would prevent others from suffering similar fates.

She reflected on the harrowing 14 months since the attack, describing her mental health as being in a terrible state. She questioned why she was targeted and why she didn’t scream or fight back more effectively. Over time, she has come to accept that the assault was not her fault and is now focused on rebuilding her life, one day at a time.

Detective Constable Charlotte Money, a member of Surrey Police’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team, emphasized the dangerous nature of Cham’s behavior. She stated, “Cham is a dangerous man who uses brute force and fear to get what he wants. In November 2023, he launched a brutal assault on a woman who did not want to be in a relationship with him. He had created a fantasy about their relationship in his head and would not accept that she did not feel the same. She told him clearly to stop and he didn’t.”

She further explained that Cham’s violent actions included rape and multiple injuries, highlighting the severity of his crimes. The officer paid tribute to the victim’s courage in coming forward and sharing her experience. She also pointed out that Cham’s convictions for offenses against women in two different police jurisdictions reveal a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.

Concluding her statement, Detective Constable Money expressed hope that the lengthy sentence would serve as a warning to other victims of sexual violence, reinforcing that such offenses are taken very seriously and will be met with strict punishment.
