EAST BELFAST WOMAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER VIOLENT DOMESTIC ABUSE
Katie Lennox, a 22-year-old woman from east Belfast, has recently appeared in Laganside Magistrates Court where she received a restraining order, a fine, and an order to pay compensation after pleading guilty to a domestic abuse charge.
Prosecutors stated that Lennox bit her former partner on the shoulder, scratched his face, caused a cut to his hand, and accused him of cheating on her.
She also tracked his location and damaged his car, which resulted in repairs costing approximately £900.
The court heard that the incidents took place between October 2022 and August 2024.
Lennox, who is a supermarket worker, was emotional during the court proceedings and wept in the courtroom.
Her solicitor highlighted her trauma and previous convictions, confirming she has a clear record.
The judge, Deputy District Judge Gerard Trainor, imposed a two-year restraining order, a £300 fine, and ordered her to pay £600 in compensation.
Lennox was instructed not to contact the victim for two years, and she was visibly upset as she received the sentence.
