DOUBLE MURDERER KASIM LEWIS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN NORTH LONDON
Kasim Lewis has once again been sentenced to life imprisonment for a second time after being convicted of murder. He previously admitted to killing 22-year-old Iuliana Tudos, whom he assaulted while she was returning home from work.
Additionally, Lewis was found guilty of murdering 55-year-old Catherine Burke, whose body was discovered with stab wounds in her North London residence.
The murder of Ms Burke was characterized as a "sexually-inspired" crime, which Lewis confirmed at the Old Bailey.
Court proceedings revealed that Lewis had a prior record of violent offences, including the attack on Iuliana Tudos on Christmas Eve in 2017, during which he wounded her with a broken bottle and stolen money from her.
He was already serving a life term for killing Tudos and received a minimum sentence of 40 years for Burke’s murder.
The judge described the attack as an "unimaginably dreadful ordeal" inflicted upon a vulnerable woman living alone.
Evidence showed that Lewis had engaged in specific actions after the murder, such as binding, gagging, and stabbing the victim multiple times, as well as attempting to destroy evidence.
There were indications of a sexual element involved, with Lewis searching for "granny sex" pornography online immediately after the killing.
The victim’s son expressed deep sorrow over Catherine Burke’s death, highlighting the pain caused by Lewis’s brutal crimes.
