KARL HILL FROM YORKSHIRE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND VIDEO SHARING IN NORMANTON
A man who recorded himself carrying out a sexual assault on an unconscious woman has received a prison sentence.Karl Hill also transmitted footage of the assault, which occurred in May 2023, to a friend of the victim, a court was told.
This act caused her to experience repeated trauma.
Hill, aged 54 and residing on Beckbridge Lane in Normanton, was convicted of one count of assault by penetration at Leeds Crown Court and was sentenced to seven years in prison earlier this week.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police described Hill as a "dangerous individual who needed to be incarcerated." Detective Chief Inspector Natalie Dawson of Wakefield District Safeguarding commented, “Hill has caused ongoing trauma to the victim not only through the assault itself but also by sharing the video with others, compounding her distress and prolonging the trauma, especially by refusing to admit guilt during the trial.” She emphasized that women and girls should be able to live without the fear of violence or sexual violence, reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring justice for such crimes.
Dawson also expressed concern that the offense took place without the victim’s knowledge.
She urged anyone who might have concerns about their interactions or those of others with Hill to come forward.
Along with his prison term, Hill was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
