LEEDS MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR SAVAGE MURDER OF WOMAN HE HARASSED FOR SEX
Karar Ali Karar has received a life sentence with a minimum term of 25 years after being convicted of murdering 21-year-old Jodi Miller in a brutal attack. The court was informed that Karar had been stalking and harassing Miss Miller, including offering her money for sex despite her refusal.
On 25 February, at a residence on Milan Road, Harehills, Leeds, Karar carried out a violent assault, stabbing her 15 times with a kitchen knife so forcefully that the blade fractured in three places.
The judge, Rodney Jameson QC, described the act as highly savage, noting it was driven by rage over Miss Miller’s refusal to engage in sex.
The judge highlighted the cruelty of the assault, pointing out that Miss Miller endured suffering and terror before her death, which the court could only imagine.
Evidence presented in court revealed that Karar had repeatedly pressured Miss Miller for sex earlier that day, and his frustration escalated into this deadly violence.
It was also noted that he moved to the UK in 2015 seeking asylum from Sudan and eventually settled in Leeds, where he associated with problematic influences, using drugs and alcohol—factors that could have impacted his mental state, although no mental health issues were officially identified at the time of the murder.
