TEEN 'SEXUAL PREDATOR' LOCKED UP AFTER RAPING THREE YOUNG GIRLS

A teenager with a fixation on sex targeted and assaulted three young girls in separate incidents, leaving all of them with significant psychological trauma.

Kai Edwards, described as manipulative and bullying, attempted to coerce the girls into sexual activity.

When they asked him to cease, he ignored their requests and continued, as revealed in Hull Crown Court proceedings.

Edwards, aged 18 and residing on Cooper Street in Hessle, was recently held on remand and denied charges of rape involving the three teenage victims.

Nonetheless, a jury found him guilty after a trial concluded on February 13.

Additionally, he was convicted of assault by penetration involving one of the girls.

Prosecutor David Godfrey explained that the three girls did not know each other and Edwards met each of them via separate social media exchanges.

The first girl reported feeling pressured into sex by Edwards, who reassured her, “you'll be fine,” and persisted despite her protests.

“She asked him repeatedly to stop, but he ignored her,” Mr.

Godfrey stated.

The victim later contacted law enforcement.

“Reporting such incidents takes real courage and bravery,” he added, noting that many choose to remain silent.

The first girl expressed her emotional aftermath: “I went from feeling confident to avoiding leaving the house and becoming very anxious.

I felt disgusted at the time.

He made me feel so low.

I couldn't cope with what he had done to me.

The hardest part was that he didn’t care.” She described feeling shame and naivety, feeling exploited by Edwards.

The second girl recounted that Edwards physically assaulted her—slapping, punching, and kicking—while insulting her with nasty names.

She also reported being sexually abused and raped by him.

“She was in complete shock and disbelief,” Mr.

Godfrey elaborated.

“The experience has severely affected her sleep and her mental state.

She still suffers from flashbacks and feels that her life has been devastated by his actions.” She expressed hope for eventual recovery, though she admitted she was not there yet.

The third girl was repeatedly harassed by Edwards and was disturbed to wake up to find him engaging in sexual activity with her while she slept.

Her testimony revealed, “My first sexual experience was being raped.

I have never overcome what he did to me.

The memories haunt my life.” She added, “I cry often over what happened.

I feel disgusted and hate him.

I believe he feels no remorse.

I don’t think I will ever be the same again.” During defense questioning, Edwards denied the allegations: “No, I did not,” when asked if he raped the girls, and “No, never,” when asked about violence towards one of them.

He maintained during the trial that he was the victim of a conspiracy and denied any misconduct.

Despite having no prior convictions, he had previously received a police caution.

In their sentencing remarks, Charlotte Baines noted Edwards’ lack of remorse and the seriousness of the offences that spanned several months and involved three different victims.

She highlighted his apparent immaturity and difficult upbringing as factors influencing his behavior.

Edwards was sentenced to seven years in a young offenders’ institution and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Although initially on bail during the trial, he was remanded into custody following the guilty verdict.

After sentencing, Detective Constable Lisa Grantham, leading the investigation, praised the bravery of the victims.

“This was a lengthy, complex investigation, and I commend each girl for their courage in assisting us with our inquiries,” she said.

“Their willingness to engage with the court ultimately led to his conviction and imprisonment.

We treat all reports of sexual offences very seriously, regardless of when they occurred, and will continue seeking justice for victims.” She urged anyone affected by such crimes to speak with someone they trust and consider reporting to police when ready, emphasizing that help is available regardless of age, gender, or how long ago the incident happened.
