JULIUS DRUMER FROM FALLOWFIELD CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Julius Drumer, a 53-year-old businessman from Fallowfield, was found in possession of highly illegal and graphic material involving child sexual abuse. The incident unfolded in September of the previous year when police officers, investigating the distribution of child pornography, identified Drumer’s address as a potential location of interest.

Following a police operation, authorities seized a laptop from Drumer’s residence in Fallowfield. Although he was not present at the time, he later voluntarily handed over the device to the officers. An investigation into the contents of the laptop revealed a disturbing 18-minute video depicting two young girls, estimated to be between 13 and 15 years old, engaging in sexual acts with each other. The discovery of such material, classified as Category A—indicating the most serious level of child abuse imagery—prompted immediate legal action.

Prosecutors emphasized the gravity of the case, with Miss Rachael Yarwood stating that possession of such images was a serious offence. She explained that Drumer was arrested and subsequently made full admissions during police interviews. Despite having no prior convictions, the severity of possessing a Category A image meant that the case was directed towards Crown Court, where he could have faced a potential sentence of up to three years in prison.

During the court proceedings at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Drumer pleaded guilty to the charge of making an indecent image of a child of the most serious category. In a surprising turn, he was sentenced to six months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, allowing him to avoid immediate incarceration. The court heard that Drumer’s actions were driven by a sense of loneliness and isolation, which he attributed to his personal circumstances.

His defence lawyer, Laura Beaumanis, highlighted that Drumer had cooperated fully with authorities, expressing remorse for his actions. She explained that he was at work when police contacted him and that he handed over his laptop willingly, fully aware of the criminal content it contained. Beaumanis also revealed that Drumer’s personal life was marked by emotional distress; his long-term partner, a Russian national, had been denied a visa to live in the UK. As a result, she now resides in Spain, and the couple’s plans to start a family were dashed due to financial constraints preventing her relocation.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Drumer was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will remain in effect for five years. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of seven years and ordered to pay court costs amounting to £195. The case has raised serious concerns about the impact of loneliness and personal hardship on individuals and underscores the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse.
