BISHOP AUCKLAND WOMAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND OBSTRUCTION
A woman named Julieanne Campbell from Worcester Place, Bishop Auckland, has been involved in a violent incident where she assaulted her partner by punching him and causing him to sustain a black eye.The incident also involved her grabbing and pulling the hair of one of his relatives, pulling her to the ground.
Campbell appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to two counts of assault by beating and one charge of obstructing a police officer.
Prosecutor Dan Hill stated that Campbell caused her partner a black eye and a lump on his head by punching him in the head.
Additionally, she assaulted a second individual by pulling her hair and dragging her to the ground.
She was arrested on March 17, during which she obstructed police officers.
At court, she was also cautioned for possessing cannabis.
The magistrates, including Captain Alex Castle, sentenced her to a 15-month community order, which includes a six-month alcohol treatment program, 18 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
She was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation to her second victim and £199 in court costs.
The court acknowledged her recognition of the need for help with drugs and alcohol.
The defendant's partner supported her in court and did not want the prosecution to proceed.
The judge noted that she had never been in custody before and that her time on remand had a positive effect on her.
The case highlights issues of domestic violence and substance abuse, with the court emphasizing rehabilitation over punishment.
