JOSIE PICKERING CRUELTY CASE IN LEIGHAM PLYMOUTH: DOGS SUFFERING EXPOSED

Josie Pickering, born around 1990 and residing at 15 Grimspound Close in Leigham, Plymouth, has been convicted of acts of cruelty towards three dogs. The incident, which came to light in 2022, involved neglectful treatment that caused significant unnecessary suffering to the animals.

Pickering’s failure to provide basic care for her dogs included neglecting their dental health needs and not maintaining a hygienic environment suitable for their well-being. This neglect was deemed serious enough to warrant legal action, highlighting the importance of animal welfare and the responsibilities of pet owners in the Plymouth area.

Despite the severity of her actions, only Pickering was prosecuted, and her husband, Frankie Pickering, was not charged, although the reasons for this remain unclear. The case drew attention to the conditions in which the dogs were kept and the neglect they endured under her care.

In sentencing, Pickering received a 12-month community order, which includes a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement aimed at addressing her conduct. Additionally, she was banned from owning or keeping dogs for a period of five years, a restriction that will remain in effect until March 2027.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities in Plymouth to combat animal cruelty and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their neglectful actions, emphasizing the community’s commitment to animal welfare.
