JOSIAH DAVIDSON'S VIOLENT RAMPAGE IN LICHFIELD LEADS TO PRISON SENTENCE
A woman in Oldbury was forced to take drastic measures to escape a brutal assault by her former partner, Josiah Davidson, who is from Gilbert Road, Lichfield. The incident unfolded when Davidson attempted to strangle her during a heated confrontation, prompting her to climb out of a window to escape the violence. She managed to reach scaffolding outside her home and sought refuge with a neighbor, visibly distressed by the ordeal.Despite her efforts to seek safety, Davidson returned to her residence later that day. Upon his return, he resumed his attack, this time brandishing a machete and issuing threats to kill her. The victim described the terrifying encounter, which left her with scratch marks and lasting emotional scars. The authorities were alerted, and Davidson was promptly arrested later that same day.
At Birmingham Crown Court, Davidson, who resides on Gilbert Road in Lichfield, pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges. These included assault by beating, strangulation, threatening someone with a knife in a private setting, and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon. The court heard that the relationship between Davidson and the victim had officially ended by October 17 of the previous year, but he continued to harass her. Following a verbal dispute at her home, Davidson physically assaulted her by punching her and attempting to choke her, which led her to escape through the window.
The court was informed that the next morning, Davidson was still present at her residence. His anger flared again as he grabbed her by the throat, punched her, and threatened her with a machete, causing her to sustain scratch injuries. During his court appearance, Davidson expressed remorse, stating, “I'm sorry if I could change it I would, I'm embarrassed by my behaviour.”
The judge took into account Davidson’s troubled background, which includes periods of homelessness and neglect, and imposed a five-year restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim. The judge emphasized the gravity of the assault and threats, underscoring the significant fear and danger inflicted upon the woman. Davidson was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for his actions, reflecting the court’s recognition of the severity of the crimes committed in Lichfield and Oldbury.
