JOSHUA WATSON FROM KELSO CONVICTED OF DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND OTHER OFFENCES

A 28-year-old man from Kelso is set to face sentencing later this month after a jury found him guilty of multiple charges related to domestic violence and abusive behavior.

Joshua Watson was unanimously convicted of committing a domestic assault, a serious offence that involves physical harm or threat within a domestic setting. In addition, a separate charge alleging that Watson was abusive towards a partner or ex-partner received a majority verdict of guilt from the jury, indicating strong evidence against him.

The court has deferred sentencing on the indictment offences until April 28, allowing time for the preparation of background reports that will inform the judge’s decision. During this period, Watson remains in custody, having been remanded following his initial arrest.

Beyond the domestic assault and abuse charges, Watson faces additional allegations, including two counts of assault causing injury, as well as charges of threatening or abusive behavior. He is also accused of breaching bail conditions previously set by the court.

The case was continued without plea, meaning Watson did not enter a formal plea during the hearing, and the proceedings are scheduled to resume on April 28 for further legal action and sentencing.
