JOSHUA TUTTY FROM KIRKINTILLOCH ESCAPES JAIL AFTER CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGE SCANDAL
In a case that has shocked the community of Kirkintilloch, Joshua Tutty was found to be in possession of explicit images involving children, leading to a court hearing that highlighted the severity of his actions.The incident dates back to July 2 of the previous year, when police officers executed a search warrant at Tutty’s residence in Kirkintilloch, a town known for its close-knit community and scenic surroundings.
During the raid, law enforcement officials discovered Tutty in his bedroom, where they seized two mobile phones—one Samsung and one LG.
The devices were subsequently taken to the Police Scotland cyber crime unit for detailed examination.
The investigation revealed that both phones contained a disturbing collection of images and videos classified under categories A, B, and C, which denote increasing levels of severity and explicitness.
Specifically, the police found four images categorized as Category A, including two videos, which are considered the most serious due to their explicit content involving children.
Additionally, there were four Category B images, also including two videos, and eight Category C images, with two videos among them.
The court was informed that one of the images depicted a young child estimated to be between five and seven years old, heightening the gravity of the offense.
Following the investigation, Joshua Tutty faced charges related to possessing and viewing child sexual abuse images.
The case was heard at Glasgow Sheriff Court, where the prosecution outlined the disturbing findings.
Despite the severity of the evidence, Tutty was not sentenced to immediate imprisonment.
Instead, he was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of two years, a measure intended to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses.
Sheriff Allan McKay addressed the court, condemning the actions as “abhorrent” and “absolutely disgraceful.” He explained that his sentencing powers were limited and issued a stern warning to Tutty.
The sheriff stated, “This is an abhorrent offence, absolutely disgraceful.
My sentencing powers are restricted and that is why I am about to make you the offer I’m about to make you.
If you fail on this order, matters will come back to me and I will use the full extent of my custodial sentencing powers.” As part of his sentence, Tutty was placed on a community payback order, which includes two years of supervision and a requirement to attend the “Moving Forward, Making Changes” program, aimed at rehabilitation.
Additionally, he was fitted with a tag that restricts his movement at home between 8 pm and 5 am for a period of two months.
Tutty is also mandated to inform his supervising officer of any devices capable of accessing the internet that he owns, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his online activity.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims within communities like Kirkintilloch.
