JOSHUA LOCKLEY SENTENCED IN STAFFORD FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TERROR IN FOREBRIDGE AREA

A man identified as Joshua Lockley has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of a series of violent and coercive acts against a woman in Stafford. The 31-year-old offender was taken into custody following a police response to a distressing incident in the Forebridge district of Stafford in November 2019, where he was reported to have stamped on his victim's stomach during a domestic dispute.

During the subsequent trial, Lockley was convicted on multiple charges, including two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, which indicate serious injuries inflicted upon the woman, and one count of controlling and coercive behavior, highlighting a pattern of abusive control and manipulation. The court proceedings revealed the extent of Lockley's brutality and the emotional toll his actions took on his victim.

At Stafford Crown Court, Lockley, who was previously residing on Tithe Barn Road in Stafford, received a custodial sentence of six years and ten months. In addition to his imprisonment, the court imposed a restraining order that will prohibit Lockley from making any contact with the victim for a period of ten years, aiming to provide her with ongoing protection from further harm.

The court heard detailed accounts of the harrowing experiences the woman endured throughout 2019, which included physical assaults and psychological coercion inflicted by Lockley. The conviction and sentencing have been met with approval from Staffordshire Police, who expressed their support for the court’s decision.

Detective Constable Joanne Kirkland commented on the case, stating, “We are pleased with the court’s decision to hand out such a strong sentence to Lockley — who put his victim through a number of horrific ordeals throughout 2019. We also want to praise his victim for showing the courage to come forward to help us with our investigation.” She further emphasized the importance of accountability, adding, “This sentence should act as a real warning to those who choose to carry out these offences. You will be found and you will be prosecuted.”
