JORDAN STENHOUSE OF BUCKHAVEN AND LEVENMOUTH JAILED FOR CHILD LURE AND ABUSE IMAGES

In July 2021, a disturbing case involving Jordan Stenhouse, a resident of Buckhaven and Levenmouth, culminated in his being sentenced to prison for a series of serious offenses related to child exploitation and abuse.

Stenhouse, aged 21 at the time, was convicted of attempting to lure two young boys, aged 12 and 13, to his home under false pretenses. The incident took place on November 11, 2020, at the Shorehead bus station in Levenmouth, where the boys were waiting for their bus. According to court reports, Stenhouse approached the boys and, despite being under a court order that prohibited him from having unsupervised contact with children under 15, he persistently asked them to visit his residence. He claimed to have a pool table and told the boys that everyone knew him, even mentioning that he had recently had four children at his house.

Stenhouse's behavior was described as disorderly during the encounter. He inquired about their bus route and repeatedly urged them to come to his home, suggesting that their route would pass by his house. When the boys declined, he followed them onto the bus to offer an apology. However, the situation escalated when one of the boys contacted his mother, who subsequently alerted the police. At the time, Stenhouse was on bail and subject to strict court-imposed restrictions that forbade him from having unsupervised contact with children under 15 unless accompanied by an adult.

Further investigations revealed that Stenhouse had a history of possessing child abuse images. In 2019, between November 5 and November 7, he took or allowed indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, which included images of children aged between three and eight. On November 8, officers from the Offender Management Unit requested access to his Samsung mobile phone, which was granted under a Risk of Sexual Harm Order issued in 2018. A search of his device uncovered disturbing search history entries, including terms like “young naked boys,” and 25 images depicting sexual abuse of young children. Stenhouse admitted to searching for such images but claimed he had not downloaded any.

Additional evidence was found on another device, an undisclosed Sony mobile phone, which contained 61 indecent images, primarily of teenage boys. These images had been accessed via a Russian photo-sharing website known for facilitating the exchange of child abuse material among paedophiles. The police confirmed that the images were stored at an address in Den Walk, Buckhaven.

Stenhouse faced multiple charges, including attempting to incite children to visit his home and possessing indecent images of children. During his court appearance at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist sentenced him to two years in prison. The court also ordered that Stenhouse be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years. The sheriff warned Stenhouse that if his behavior persisted after his release, he risked spending most of his life behind bars. The sentence was backdated to reflect the period he had already spent in remand at HMP Perth, where he had been held for nearly eight months.

This case highlights the ongoing concerns about child exploitation and the importance of strict enforcement of court orders designed to protect vulnerable minors from predatory individuals like Jordan Stenhouse.
