LANCHESTER PERVERT TOLD GIRL, 13, HE WANTED TO HAVE SEX WITH HER
An "immature" paedophile posing as a 17‑year‑old told a teen he wanted to have sex with her leaving her mother “haunted by fear”.County Durham's Jordan Retchless made contact with the girl on social media who immediately told him she was 13.
Despite her being underage, Retchless, who claimed to be 17, turned the conversation to sex on Snapchat.
He told her he wanted to have sex with her and discussed sneaking her into his home past his parents.
Retchless also sent her an image of a teenage boy performing a sex act on himself to maintain the girl’s belief he was 17.
But Durham Crown Court heard the girl’s mother became concerned about her daughter’s internet use and she tried to persuade her to stop messaging the defendant.
Eventually, when it continued, the police became involved and arrested Retchless in December 2024.
When officers seized the defendant’s phone they found it contained images of extreme pornography.
While the case was being investigated Retchless, then 26, now aged 27, of Deneside, Lanchester, was made subject of a Sexual Risk Order, enabling the police to monitor his phone and internet use.
He admitted charges of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to view sexual activity and possession of extreme pornography.
An impact statement was read to the sentencing hearing by prosecutor Ian West on behalf of the girl’s mother, stating both her and her daughter have been affected psychologically, left “haunted by fear” as to what could have happened, with the whole case having had a great emotional toll.
Retchless, who is of previous good character, was sentenced to a two-year prison term, suspended for two years, during which he must perform 120 hours’ unpaid work, attend 35 probation-recommended rehabilitation sessions, abide by a three-month, 11 pm to 7 am home curfew, and adhere to restrictions on internet and future contact with children as part of a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He is also required to register as a sex offender and is subject to a ten-year restraining order preventing contact or approaching his victim.
