JORDAN PATON FROM DUNDEE AND FORFAR CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
Jordan Paton, a 28-year-old man with connections to Dundee and Forfar, found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation after police uncovered a disturbing collection of child abuse images on his mobile devices. The investigation revealed that Paton had been hoarding these illicit images at his residence on Kirkton Place, Forfar, during the period from April 2014 through July of the previous year.Paton’s arrest and subsequent court appearance followed a police raid prompted by intelligence reports indicating that indecent images were being accessed from devices at his home. The authorities acted swiftly, with officers gaining entry to the property after being allowed in by Paton’s mother. The police also visited his workplace, an abattoir located in Brechin, where Paton voluntarily returned to face questioning.
During the search, law enforcement officials recovered two mobile phones belonging to Paton. These devices contained a total of 65 images and four videos, all of which depicted young female children, some as young as one year old, engaged in sexual activities. Although Paton admitted to accessing mainstream pornography sites, he denied actively searching for or viewing child exploitation material.
The court proceedings revealed that Paton, who resides on Park Terrace, Kirriemuir, was charged with taking or permitting the taking of indecent images of children. His guilty plea led to his being placed on the Sex Offenders Register, a measure designed to monitor and restrict individuals convicted of such offenses. The sentencing was deferred, pending the preparation of reports to determine appropriate punishment and rehabilitation measures.
Prosecutor Gavin Burton provided details of the case, emphasizing the severity of the images found and the importance of the legal process in addressing such heinous crimes. The case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from harm.
