NEWCASTLE TEEN JAILED FOR BRUTAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER DRINKING SPREE
A teenage male has been sentenced to prison after committing a violent sexual assault following a night of heavy drinking. Jordan Lauder, 18, from Grosvenor Court in Chapel Park, Newcastle, had no previous criminal record. The incident occurred during a Christmas gathering, during which Lauder consumed an excessive amount of alcohol, including spirits and bottles of Stella Artois. As the alcohol affected him, he launched a brutal attack on a woman, punching and headbutting her. Prosecutor Tim Parkin described how Lauder "dragged her to a bedroom by her hair" and, after coming to his senses, apologized. However, he then assaulted her again and forced her to perform a sex act against her will, with the victim crying and clearly distressed. Lauder was found guilty of rape and assault and was sentenced to three years in prison. The judge, John Milford, acknowledged the guilty pleas and Lauder's previously good character but emphasized that the violence used against the victim made custodial sentencing mandatory. Lauder was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life. During the hearing, Lauder's defense argued that he showed genuine remorse and was baffled by his actions, noting that he had never consumed that much alcohol before. The court highlighted the severity of the assault, including the use of deliberate violence and injuries inflicted on the woman. Lauder’s case was widely reported, illustrating the dangers of excessive drinking and violent behavior post-consumption.
