STALKER AVOIDS PRISON AFTER THREATENING WOMAN WITH TASER-STYLE WEAPON
A stalker identified as Jordan Evans has engaged in threatening and harassing behavior towards a woman and her partner after the end of an affair.He visited their home multiple times, sometimes intoxicated and shouting threats, and wrote obscene graffiti.
He also sent Facebook messages and showed up at their children's school.
On July 3, he arrived shouting abuse and told the man to go outside so he could hit him, but was refused.
Further threats included smashing their car, kicking their gate, and returning the next day while dangling a house key and verbally abusing the woman.
He came back later shouting "grass." On July 12, Evans appeared and threateningly produced a weapon with an electrical discharge from its two prongs, holding it near the man and threatening to "do you both." He punched his own palm, revved a van engine, and left.
Other witnesses described his unsettling behavior, staring into their homes, unannounced visits, graffiti, and bragging.
Evans also sent a letter referring to a victim as having a "death wish." He pleaded guilty to harassment, which caused fear of violence, over a two-week period.
The court sentenced him to an 18-month community order with 20 days of rehabilitation and a five-year restraining order banning contact or proximity to the victims' home.
The judge emphasized that Evans needed to mature and understand the impact of his actions, noting he had only one previous conviction for alcohol-related disorderly conduct.
The court considered his limited prior record and the fact that he had already served six months in custody as sufficient for punishment, stating: "You've got some growing up to do."
