JORDAN CATLIN FROM FALKIRK STRANGLES AND CHASES PARTNER OUT OF HER HOME

A man with a violent past has been sentenced to prison after a brutal assault on his former partner in Falkirk, which culminated in her leaping from a window to escape his wrath. Jordan Catlin, aged 28 and originally from Stirling, was responsible for a terrifying attack on Lee Ford, 42, at her residence in Bannockburn, Stirlingshire.

According to court reports, Catlin had a history of threatening Lee while he was incarcerated, leaving her up to 13 voicemails each day filled with menacing threats such as promising to 'punch her head in' and vowing to come after her once he was released. Despite these intimidating messages, the couple briefly reconnected after Catlin’s release, which followed a not-guilty verdict on unrelated charges.

On the 13th of November, a dispute over missing medication escalated into violence. Catlin entered Lee’s bedroom and launched a physical assault, during which he straddled her and gripped her neck with enough force to nearly cause her to lose consciousness. Lee managed to break free from his grip and fled downstairs, but Catlin pursued her through the house. In a state of panic, Lee escaped through a ground-floor window and ran to a neighbor’s house, who had already called emergency services after hearing her screams.

The neighbor described Lee as visibly distressed, with noticeable marks on her neck and torn clothing, indicating the severity of the attack. Police officers quickly apprehended Catlin at a nearby homeless shelter shortly afterward. A medical examination confirmed bruising on both sides of Lee’s neck and pain consistent with strangulation, corroborating her account of the assault.

During the court proceedings, Catlin admitted to stalking Lee and making violent threats while in prison, as well as assaulting her in a manner that endangered her life. Both charges were classified as domestic abuse aggravations, reflecting the nature of the crimes.

Prosecutor Samantha Brown emphasized the terror Lee experienced, stating she was left fearing for her life. Defense solicitor Becky Houston acknowledged Catlin’s extensive history of violent offenses but highlighted that this was his first conviction related to domestic abuse. She also mentioned that his troubled background included witnessing his father’s death from a heart attack during childhood.

Judge Craig Caldwell sentenced Jordan Catlin to 30 months in prison, condemning his 'appalling conduct' and describing the attack as 'relentless and unprovoked,' which compelled Lee to flee her home in fear for her safety.
