OFFENDER CAUGHT BREACHING SEX HARM PREVENTION ORDER IN HEMSWORTH
Jonjo Milner-Wilson, a 44-year-old resident of Hemsworth, appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week for breaching his 2013 life-long sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), which was originally issued after he downloaded disturbing images of child abuse. Despite being under this order, he was caught again in 2017 attempting to download more illicit pictures. Authorities presented evidence that in August 2022, when they searched his Hemsworth home, the iPad he used had its internet search history erased, with 300 searches deleted, though none related to illegal content. Milner-Wilson admitted to breaking his SHPO and explained that he erased his online history to create a new Google account. Conor Quinn, representing the case, stated that Milner-Wilson remains attracted to minors and struggles with guilt and despair, reportedly writing down his thoughts and recognizing that his SHPO is functioning but that the risk remains. Judge Kate Rayfield sentenced him to six months in jail, suspended for eighteen months. She advised him that he still exhibits sexual curiosity towards minors and that writing about his thoughts is better than actively searching for inappropriate images. The judge emphasized that complete cure is unlikely and the focus should be on management. She ordered him to participate in 55 days of rehabilitation and a 43-day sexual offense program.
