DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR 14 MONTHS AFTER HARASSMENT AND DEFECATION CAMPAIGN
Jonathan Roberts, aged 58, from Stanhope Road South in Darlington, was involved in a six-week campaign of harassment against his partner.
He committed various acts including smearing his own human feces on her car and driveway, and defecating on her property.
During a court hearing at Teesside Crown Court, it was detailed that Roberts pleaded guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and harassment.
The court heard that Roberts had previously attacked the woman, leaving her unable to breathe, and had damaged her property with a spade.
His actions included climbing over her garden fence and defacing her property, as well as sending her numerous messages and making threatening calls.
The victim described feeling damaged, isolated, and suffering from a loss of confidence due to Roberts's behavior.
The court sentenced Roberts to 14 months in prison, and he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £156 and handed an indefinite restraining order against the woman.
His defense argued that he was remorseful and that he was struggling to handle the breakup of their relationship, which had lasted around 15 years.
