FORMER TEACHER CONVICTED OF HEINOUS SEXUAL ABUSE
Update 26/03/2026: A former teacher at a school in Surrey, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for sexually assaulting a pupil.Jonathan Marshall, 75, worked at St.
Dunstan’s Middle Catholic School in Woking and targeted the boy in the late 1980s, when he was aged between 8 and 10.
In 2021, he disclosed what had happened to him.
The sexual attacks took place in the neighbouring church, although on one occasion, he was driven away from the school to a deserted property, where he was abused by the defendant and another man, who has since died.
The victim described his “intense panic” of realising that he was too small to fight against two men.
Marshall, under his previous name of John Lillis, was convicted in 2013 of sexually abusing two pupils.

A former teacher at Woking's St Dunstan’s Middle Catholic School, Jonathan Marshall, has been convicted of a string of sexual assaults on a boy in the late 1980s.
The 75-year-old, who changed his name by deed poll in 2017 from John Lillis following his original trial, was found guilty of 13 historic sexual abuse charges after a recent trial at Kingston Crown Court.
Most offenses took place in a church near the victim’s school.
On one occasion, the boy was driven from the school to a deserted property where he was abused by Marshall and a man who has since died.
The victim described his 'intense panic' when realizing he was too small to fight against two men.
Catherine Wear, Senior Crown Prosecutor for the CPS, called Marshall an 'appalling sexual predator' who subjected the young victim to 'horrendous and repeated sexual abuse,' taking advantage of his position of authority and making veiled threats that no one would believe him if he spoke out.
Despite the many years, the victim’s bravery in coming forward has brought the offender to justice.
Marshall will be sentenced at a future date.
